Award wining artist, Peter J. Fiegel is a musician and educator based in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, recognized throughout the tri-state area for his work as both a classical guitarist and trumpet player. Equally at home as a soloist, ensemble musician, and educator, Peter’s musical experience encompasses orchestral, chamber, wind ensemble, sacred, and contemporary music. His diverse musical background has provided him with opportunities to perform throughout the Berkshires and New England in a wide variety of musical settings.

Peter is currently a music education major at The University of Hartford’s Hartt School, where he studies classical guitar with Christopher Ladd and trumpet with Phil Snedecor. At Hartt, he makes frequent appearances in both Hartt’s Evening with Guitar and Hartt Wind Ensemble concerts. His guitar studies encompass both comprehensive classical guitar technique and steel-string fingerstyle playing. Prior instructors include Jim Wojtaszek, David Brown, and Paul Sundberg. He continues to maintain an active performance career throughout New England while pursuing his degree in music education.

Most recently, Peter was a featured soloist with the Stockbridge Sinfonia as part of the orchestra’s “American Showcase” concert series. Serving as principal trumpet, he performed Franz Joseph Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in three performances across the Berkshires and continues to perform regularly with the Stockbridge Sinfonia and Eagles Community band during the summer months. At the Hartt School, Peter has performed both solo guitar and chamber repertoire, including both flute and guitar, and euphonium and guitar duos. He has also performed with the Hartt Orchestra and Hartt Symphony Band.

Peter has participated in the world premieres of several contemporary works, including Dreams of Distant Sundays by John “Rusty” Koenig, Berkshire Triptych by Alice Spatz, Pictures of A Sunset by Ethan Perez, and And music echoes eternal tones by Joseph Turrin. He has also participated in recording projects for the Advancement of Secondary and Primary Instrumental Repertoire Excellence (ASPIRE) Consortium, commissioned by Glen Adsit and managed by Dr. Koenig.

Peter maintains an active presence in sacred music as both a vocalist and instrumentalist. He serves as co-director of the Choristers at the University of Hartford’s Catholic Center, where he helps provide music for Sunday Mass and other Catholic events. During the summer months, he provides music for weekly Masses at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and has performed at numerous churches of both Catholic and other Christian denominations.
