After growing up in Southern Vermont Peter J. Fiegel now lives in Berkshire county Massachusetts and studies music education at the University of Hartford's Hartt School. As a member of The Hartt Trumpet Studio he is under the tutelage of Phil Snedecor and plays in the Hartt School's instrumental performing ensembles. Peter is also the principal trumpet and stage manager of the Stockbridge Sinfonia and The Eagles Community Band.
Prior to his studies at the Hartt School Peter took lessons through the Berkshire Music School with Paul Sundberg.
In addition to the trumpet studio, Peter is a member of the Hartt School's guitar studio under the tutelage of the legendary Christopher Ladd. The guitar department at The Hartt School is the oldest and most developed performance based guitar program in the country. Peter performs regularly in the program's Evening with Guitar and Harp concerts. His previous guitar instructors include Jim Wojtaszek and David Brown.
Peter has also performed in the Hartt School's Chorale under the direction of both Dr. Carolina Flores and (briefly) Jeffery A. Spenner. Additionally, he has performed in the world premieres of pieces my Joseph Turrin, John "Rusty' Koenig, Alice Spatz, and more!
Peter is the co-director of the Choristers at the University of Hartford's Catholic Center. The Choristers provide music for Sunday Mass on campus as well as other Catholic events. Peter's work in music ministry also includes weekly Masses at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Pittsfield MA during the summer months.
