Residing in Berkshire County, MA, Peter J. Fiegel is a music education major studying classical guitar with the legendary Christopher Ladd at The University of Hartford's Hartt School in Hartford CT. The guitar department at The Hartt School is the oldest and most developed performance based guitar program in the country, and as a member Peter makes frequent appearances in the program's Evening with Guitar and Harp concert series. His studies at Hartt have provided him with a unique opportunity to focus on steel-string fingerstyle playing while receiving a comprehensive education in classical guitar technique. Prior to his studies at Hartt Peter studied guitar under Jim Wojtaszek at the Berkshire Music School and David Brown.
As a music education major Peter has also has also performed in the Hartt Chorale under the direction of Dr. Carolina Flores.
In addition to the guitar program, Peter is also a member of the Hartt trumpet studio. Taught by Phil Snedecor, Peter's trumpet studies have allowed him to play in the Hartt Symphony Band, Hartt Wind Ensemble, and Hartt Orchestra to name a few.
Prior to Hartt he studied Trumpet with Paul Sundberg at the Berkshire Music School. In the summers Peter plays trumpet with the Stockbridge Sinfonia and Eagles Community Band of Pittsfield, MA.
Peter has participated in the world premere of works such as "Dreams of Distant Sundays" by Rusty Koenig, "Berkshire Triptych" by Alice Spatz, "And music echoes eternal tones" by Joseph Turrin, and "Pictures of A Sunset" by Ethan Perez
Peter is the co-director of the Choristers at the University of Hartford's Catholic Center. The Choristers provide music for Sunday Mass on campus as well as other Catholic events. Peter's work in music ministry also includes weekly Masses at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Pittsfield MA during the summer months.
